THE ŽAMBERK BREWERY

The origins of the brewing industry in Žamberk are associated with Karel Prokeš and date back to 1897. The local Intero Chmelan company founded the brewery that exists today in 1995. The production of beer started two years later.

In November 2000 the brewery underwent a substantial metamorphosis. Ing. Zdeněk Kalous, the new CEO, extended the brewery’s keg and bottled beer portfolio, and adapted it to the needs given by the seasons and holidays. One year later he started production of special 13° and 14° unfiltered dark beers, and filtered draught beer and lager named Žamberecký kanec (Žamberk Boar). This is an unpasteurized beer made solely of water, malt, and hops, without using sugar or other additives. The Žamberk brewery introduced a novelty to the market in 2005 – 40% hoppy liqueurs known as PIVKA and PIVODEČKA.

Visitors look forward to the brewery beer hall capacity doubling from its current 40 to 80 seats. The overall capacity of the beer hall indicates that it is necessary to make a reservation for groups and large parties ahead of time. At the same time, you can order music by an accordion player, organist, and Bohemian or Moravian folklore ensembles.

A tour through the brewery can be extended to the Žamberk museum located next door to the brewery and/or nearby watchtower Rozárka, which offers a beautiful view of the picturesque region in the vicinity of Žamberk.

We cordially invite you for a get-together in the Žamberk brewery, and for tasting the Žamberk Boar. We are looking forward to your visit!
